Ke‘olu Golf Course

This private Members’ only Ke‘olu Golf Course is a Tom Weiskopf design. This masterpiece of design, challenge and illusion is a landscape of lava, sand and green on undulating terrain that descends and then ascends more than 220 feet. A collapsed lava tube on the first hole (a 130-yard carry that appears much longer), caves, lava blisters, and arches are among the dramatic natural features that Weiskopf has honored and highlighted. The par-36 first nine has at least four tees on every hole (hole 8 has six tees) and measures more than 3,500 yards from the farthest tee and more than 3,300 yards from the championship tee. Although they may look visually intimidating, they play magnificently.

The back nine measures 3,600 from the farthest tees and 3,400 from the championship tee. These back nine holes continue with gentle slopes and panoramic ocean views. The grass type used for the fairways, tees and roughs are Tifway 2. The greens are planted with TifEagle, which produces a truer putting surface with less grain. The sand for the bunkers is a custom-made blend imported from China for its consistency, playability, and color. Although this is a challenging course, it seemingly rewards the golfer who plays it often.
