Hualalai at Historic Ka'upulehu

Natural ResourcesNatural Resources

The coastline here at Hualalai Resort contains a typical basalt (lava) tidepool system. These intertidal pools provide an amazing plethora of marine organisms to look at. The tidepools attract marine invertebrates and juvenile reef fish, with many of these organisms being endemic marine species. Endemic is defined as an organisms found only here in Hawaii and nowhere else in the world! The tidepool tours are offered Wednesday mornings (Visit Hale Nalu for tour times.)

If your visit doesn't coincide with a Tidepool Tour, we now have a touch tank containing some of the tidepool creatures. Stop by Hale Nalu, near the Sea Shell Pool, for a Touch Tank Talk every day of the week at 10:00 a.m and at 1:45 p.m
