Te Mana o Te Moana

Vaka (Canoe) sightings... if you haven't heard about the latest in non-instrumental navigation then you missed out seeing seven vaka (canoe) visit Moloka‘i, Hilo, Kaua'i and Honolulu in June and July.

This voyage named, "Te Mana o Te Moana", translated "The Spirit of the Sea", is attributed to the Polynesian ancestors who loved and respected the sea. The goal of this voyage is to bring awareness to the world that we need to act now to be able to preserve a healthy ocean for us, our children and future generations. If we don't take care of the Pacific Ocean we will no longer have essential life and the services the ocean provides.

As these vaka travel to San Diego, they can be seen in Monterey, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and Santa Catalina. You can follow their sail plan by visiting: http://www.imiloahawaii.org/188/te-mana-o-te-moana-pacific-voyagers.

"Move your paddle silently through the water" (be respectful and gentle).
