The Hualālai Golf Course is the first Nicklaus design on Hawai‘i Island and is home to the prestigious PGA Champions Tour "Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai" event.
The 2013
Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai, a PGA TOUR Champions Tour tournament competition among all official money-event champions of the 2011 and 2012 seasons, winners of the majors since 2008 and eight professionals by invitation with 15 or more career victories, including one major, was held January 18-220, 2013 at the Hualālai Resort. John Cook was proclaimed the 2013 Champion on Sunday, January 20 defeating David Frost in a playoff. The golf competition held on the Hualālai Golf Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, hosted thousands of guests and residents to view this event.
