The largest of the Hawaiian Islands is called Hawai‘i.

It is an island that is growing in size. The Kilauea Volcano on the southeast shore has added over 500 acres to the coast as its lava pours into the sea.

On the opposite side of the island is the Kohala Coast. Protected by the dormant peaks of Hualālai and Mauna Kea, it is drenched in sun most of the year.

The resort of Hualālai is located at 100 Ka'upulehu Drive, just 15 minutes north of the Kailua-Kona International Airport off the makai (towards the ocean) side of the Queen K'ahumanu Highway.

Many airlines offer daily nonstop service from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Kona International Airport. Japan Airlines schedules daily nonstop flights between Tokyo and Kona.

Many rental car companies have vehicles available at Kona International Airport.
